Role Taking and Conflict
A) Role conflict:
One day, I had to attend a family function, and I had to go with my friends too. I had to attend my family function because it is part of my role to go where my family tells me to go, and on the other hand, I had made my promise to friends that I would come. The plan was cancelled three times, and this time the plan was made by me and I was not aware of the family function. So now I was in a dilemma of what to do, and this was the role conflict from which I was not able to come out. Now i had to find a way to come out of this, and I was finding reasons to get out of any one situation. I knew that family function would be boring, so I acted like I was sick and my family went without me. I went with my friends and enjoyed with them. With this, I came out of my role conflict.
B) Role taking:
As part of social life, we assume roles in day-to-day life. And that is role-taking. It was my friend's scooter. I was sitting behind and the accident happened. It was not a severe accident; I did not get any injuries, but my friend was bleeding from the hand. As a friend, I had to take him to the clinic and get him bandaged. His scooter was also damaged, it was a minor but noticeable scratch. But one scratch was there, and his situation was that he could not tell its family. So, we had to lie, so I came up with one lie that the scooter was standing and the monkey dropped it, and that led to a scratch in the scooter, and we were standing near it and he got scared and fell down and got injurious. As a friend, I had to lie in front of him, but I told the truth when he was not around.
These are the two incidents in my life where I have faced role conflict, and in one, I assumed the role and just acted out.
